2011 was a good year for the FL trails. Our trail steward program was a great success, with individuals adopting a section of trail and keeping it clean. That freed up my time to put in new trail: a long section in the pines right after the beaver bridges, a new downhill that comes in below ART and drops to the parking lot, and a new rock line/banked turn on Swamp Overlook. The bridges over the beaver dam got a total rebuild as well. Plus, trail signs! More will go up on the back loops this spring.
We also dealt with a major wind storm that nuked the forest in about 2 minutes flat. We rallied a crew with chainsaws and cleaned it up in a day - very impressive!
For 2012 there is more new trail in the works, and we will renew our trail stewards. I will make a call for volunteers on that in the spring.
